On “Bigg Boss OTT 2,” during the “Weekend ka Vaar” episode, actress-turned-filmmaker Pooja Bhatt, who is renowned for her extremely honest opinions, shared details about her private life.
The director of “Paap” and “Jism 2” spoke about her traumatic divorce and how ending her 11-year marriage “felt like a death” to her.
After courting for a month, Bhatt married restaurateur and video jockey Manish Makhija in 2003. They first connected while filming the John Abraham and Udita Goswami-starring film “Paap” in 2003. They got divorced in 2014.
Why did Pooja decide to separate?
Pooja Bhatt revealed in a conversation with Jiya Shankar on Bigg Boss OTT 2, a fellow participant, that she made the decision to get a divorce alone. “She stated that I wanted to maintain a decade-long partnership or live a comfortable life. Not that my husband was a nasty person. But thereafter, I felt as though I had lost myself and that what I had done was not for the good of others or to improve the quality of life. She also stated on the Bigg Boss OTT 2, “I needed myself back, and I couldn’t lie to myself.
People ask whether you’re okay, and it’s better if you reply in Yes (that’s what they want to hear). She also said on Bigg Boss OTT 2 that when her marriage was abruptly called off, it felt like death. I thought I wanted to be free and find myself at that point, but in reality, I dug myself deeper into a terrible place.
Pooja began drinking.
When she looked back on her path, she claimed that the divorce emotionally taxed her, causing her to turn to drinking. You go later and hide behind the bottle because it gives you comfort. Then I wished to be free and discover myself, but I only drilled deeper into the negative zone. Therefore, that time in my life was the lowest point. I forced myself to the bottom of the pool, but as soon as a survival instinct kicked in, I clawed my way to the surface and declared, “No boss, I’m not giving up on myself.”
