With its extravagant productions, Bollywood, renowned for its opulence and fantastical cinematic events, has continuously pushed the limits of filmmaking. Numerous Bollywood films have established new standards over the years, both in terms of their scope and budgetary outlays.

In recent years, Bollywood has advanced significantly, the reason being that an infusion of funding has made filmmaking a profitable endeavour. Due to demand from big business and production companies, movie budgets are growing daily.

The costliest films that have been released in India to date are listed below.

1.Mughal e Azam (1.5 crore)

In 2015, 1.5 crores might not seem like much for a movie, but in 1960, it was a huge sum of money, which is why this Mughal e Azam is listed as the costliest movie of its time.



2. My name is Khan (100 crore)

At the time of its 2010 release, the Kajol-SRK collaboration was the talk of the town. At a budget of 100 crores, it is regarded as one of the most expensive films of its day.

3. 2.0 (543 crore)

“2.0,” which stars Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar, is another expensive extravaganza that was helmed by S. Shankar. It is regarded as the most costly Indian film to date, with an astounding budget of ₹543 crore.

4. Baahubali: The Conclusion (250 crore)

Baahubali: The Conclusion, directed by S.S. Rajamouli, is more than simply a movie; it’s a phenomenon that revolutionised Indian filmmaking. The sequel to “Baahubali: The Beginning” has a staggering ₹250 crore budget, making it one of the priciest films ever made in India.

Fans were drawn to the exotic locales, the extravagant sets, the crazy costumes, Rajinikanth, and the stunning Aishwarya Rai. A staggering 150 crores was spent on the making of Robot.



6. Bang Bang (160 crore)

This Indian version of the Hollywood movie Knight and Day, which starred Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif, went all out with action scenes and dancing moves to excite the audience. The Hrithik Roshan-Katrina Kaif movie gave us a fun movie and an amazing on-screen duo to look forward to. The production cost of the movie was INR 160 crores.

7. Ra.One (135 crore)

On Diwali in 2011, SRK’s most ambitious film was released. The film’s production cost came to INR 135 crores.

8. Dilwale (165 crore)

Among the high-budget films of 2015 was Rohit Shetty’s Dilwale, which starred Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Varun Dhawan, and Kriti Sanon. The film had a ₹165 crore budget.

9. Brahmastra (410 crore)

Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra, which stars Amitabh Bachchan, Alia Bhatt, and Ranbir Kapoor, is one of Bollywood’s most ambitious films. Part of a proposed trilogy, it has a budget of ₹410 crore.

11. Tiger Zinda Hai (210 crore)

Tiger Zinda Hai, a sequel to the 2012 movie “Ek Tha Tiger,” was directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and starred Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif. The film, which had a ₹210 crore budget, was a huge box office success.
