As the temperature continues to fall in northern India, travelers has witness dense fog in Delhi today. Tuesday morning saw thick fog at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, which delayed a lot of flights.

The thick layer of  haze and dense fog in Delhi has made it difficult for commuters to see on the roads as the capital’s air quality continues to deteriorate. On Tuesday morning, citizens shared pictures on social media showing dense fog in Delhi covering the roads.

Dense Fog in Delhi causes significant railway delays.

Rail transport in and around the capital was also delayed as a result of the fog. On Tuesday, 11 trains were supposedly one to five hours delayed.

Weather service reports that after extended exposure to fog, those with asthma or bronchitis may feel wheezing, coughing, and shortness of breath. Additionally, it could cause infections or irritated eyes.

For long voyages, it was necessary that travelers bring necessities like water and medicine.

The past few days have seen “extremely poor” air quality in the nation’s capital. As per System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research, the air quality index today near IGI airport is 378. When the Air Quality Index is between 0 and 100, it is good, when it is between 100 and 200, it is moderate, when it is between 200 and 300, it is bad and when it is between 300 and 400, it is very poor; and when it is between 400 and 500 or above, it is severe.

14 injured and 1 death due to dense fog in Delhi and NCR

As per reports, the dense fog that blanketed numerous regions of north India this morning was the cause of an overturned bus carrying 60 passengers that resulted in one fatality and 14 injuries. The accident happened on the Delhi-Jhansi highway.

The accident occurred close to Galgotia University on the Eastern Peripheral Highway, which connects Agra and Noida. The bus struck a container that had abruptly halted. According to reports, the dense layer of fog reduced visibility on the highway to less than 50 metres.

Soon after the collision, police arrived at the scene and launched a rescue effort. Hurriedly transported to a hospital, one of the accident victims died while receiving care there.
