Millions of fans worldwide have flocked to the hit television series Desperate Housewives, which features a unique blend of “good fun” and “humour, dramas, and suspense.” People organised weekly celebrations and get-togethers after each episode aired, acknowledging it as an extended family brand. Fans still watch it frequently to wind down at the end of the day.
Marc Cherry, primarily motivated by his own experiences, envisioned a series that was not undertaken by many. We can all relate to and empathise with the people he created by seeing past the typical housewives with issues. Each has a following of their own, or like the majority, they were all adored collectively. In addition, he portrayed Wisteria Lane as a “wholesome” community that is “picture perfect” and “friendly” yet conceals some extremely sinister truths. Therefore, he created a wonderful show known as Desperate Housewives.
The show has left a lasting impression on many people’s hearts, both during its original run and today, in the age of streaming, despite having its fair share of odd and inappropriately ageing moments. The amount of fans who continue to discuss their favourite episodes, scenes, and characters is proof of the show’s ongoing appeal.
The show is timeless for a variety of reasons, including the way it combines romance, mystery, suspense, comedy, drama, and crime. ‘Desperate Housewives’ is one of the greatest television shows ever, for the following reasons.
1.Portrays passion, heartache, and love.
A lot of love and loss-related scenes can be seen in the program. For example, Bree remarries several times, Lynette and Tom Scavo go through a difficult time and nearly get divorced, and Susan finds love with Mike after her first marriage to Carl ends. Everyone on Wisteria Lane can count on Bob and Lee, a friendly and supportive gay couple, for friendship and counsel.
2.Depicts genuine friendship
If Gaby, Susan, Lynette, and Bree are anything, it’s that they always encourage and pardon one another at the end of the day. In this show, friendships might resemble love-hate relationships. All they do, though, is sit about drinking, playing cards, and chatting about their lives at the end of the day. In a sometimes-hilarious fashion that demonstrates how much love there is in the group, the close-knit friends support one another morally and emotionally which is rarely a case in today’s world.
3. A Fantastic cast
The ensemble is composed of four friends who cope with secrets, lies, scandals, and past criminal activity while residing in the same neighbourhood.
4. Gabriella Solis
You already know how much humour Eva Longoria’s character Gabriella Solis brings to the series. Gaby’s reputation is well-established due to her conceited behaviour, obsession with shopping, extramarital affair, and financial motivation for marrying Carlos. You definitely wouldn’t like her when you read these traits, but if you watch the show, you’ll notice how much humour she contributes.
5. Lynette Scavo
Felicity Huffman portrays Lynette Scavo, who got married to Tom Scavo. Porter, Preston, Parker, Penny, and Paige are their five children. Lynette enjoys her work in marketing, but in order to handle her children’s madness, she has to give up her career and stay at home. Lynette has a courageous and a very persuasive personality. She battles cancer, is kind, diligent, and will always support you. Even when others disagree with Lynette, she won’t back down from a fight for what she wants.
6. Susan Delfino
Susan Delfino is referred to be the group’s klutz due to her awkward gait. She becomes deeply infatuated with Mike Delfino, who eventually becomes her spouse. Though she can be awkward at times, Susan is a kind person who loves her son MJ and daughter Julie Myer very much. She also supports everyone in her neighbourhood and community.
7. Bree Van der Kamp
Another clever, entertaining character is Marcia Cross, who portrays Bree Van de Kamp. Bree is well-known for having a detached emotional state and for always needing to bake something for her neighbours and offer an apology when something goes wrong. Bree has an OCD and demands perfection all the time. She is neat, orderly, and willing to put up a front if necessary. She’s usually wearing an elegant jumper and a pearl necklace. In every episode you watch, her redheaded hair will always be blown out and pinned straight.
8. Depicts problems people encounter in real life
The show is plenty with humour, and you will find yourself laughing a lot, but it also includes scenes where viewers are seen dealing with real-life issues such as medical crises, drinking, or mental disorders including depression and OCD.
The show also explores themes of young children’s fears and body image concerns. Families experience a great deal of loss and suffering, and neighbours, neighbours, and acquaintances must deal with hearing surprising and upsetting news on a daily basis.
