Binsar 2N/3D – A beautiful place for Hiking

Hiking in Binsar

Binsar is a small town located in the Kumaon region of Uttrakhand. It’s a beautiful place with breathtaking views of the Himalayas. It is located at 120 km from Kathgodam and 90 km from Nainital by road. We were a group of 5 people and decided to take a train till Kathgodham railway station and from there hired a taxi to Club Mahindra Resort in Binsar, where we were staying. The taxi will take around Rs.2000 to Rs.3000 depending upon the size of the car from Kathogodam to Binsar, which roughly takes 4 to 5 hours to reach the resort. The route has light traffic and the view around is picturesque and very pleasing.

Do visit Binsar

If you love nature then Binsar wildlife sanctuary is a must visit. I am more of a trekking person and this place offers long trek in the clean air, surrounded by the lush forest of Himalayas. You must visit this place with friends and family. The resort was very comfortable, quite big, well furnished with all modern amenities. Within the resort lot of fun filled activities were arranged like Carom, Chess, and TT. Even kids can indulge themselves in their Holiday Activity Centre.

Day 1 – Mesmerizing beauty

The day was more about exploring the resort and the surrounding areas.  We went out to check for pattri kee chai which we easily found (pattri kee chai no one can beat, of course without sugar for me) as there are lot of villages around. People are very warm and helpful. We walked through the charming villages; the scenic beauty of the mountain was unbelievable.

We didn’t stay back late outside, as we had some adventure stuff lined up the next day. The resort had organized adventure activities for us like Rock Climbing, Rappelling, Valley crossing (all activities are chargeable).

Day 2 – Time for some fun and adventure

We started our day with a light breakfast as we had some amazing adventure activities lined up so wanted to keep our self light and active. When we reached the activity spot we met our guide and the organizer of all the activities. We were so thrilled to do different kind of stuff which we haven’t done before. I was on cloud 9 because being with your friends, doing stuff you like, away from the mad rush and day to day pressure; my mind really needed this break badly. I did it all from Valley crossing to Rappelling to Mountain Climb to Trekking.

The pictures I have posted are a witness to my profound happiness. One advise please don’t eat too much and have a very light breakfast because while performing the activities you may not feel very comfortable and also carry something along and keep munching, the weather tends to get hot in the afternoon, so make sure you are carrying enough water. Wear comfortable attire and shoes. Safety harness is there so do everything. I had a friend, who was very scared to do the tasks, so I encouraged her to do every activity and she did it, I was so happy for her.  We should always encourage people and support them. I feel its one life just do it and never say NO.

Day 3 – Let’s go for Hiking

Next day we decided to go for a long trek. Binsar offers beautiful nature walks. The walking trails were covered by oak trees. We went to Zero point, one has to walk inside the sanctuary for around 2 km to reach the point. It is the highest point in Binsar National Park.  The point was partially covered by the tall trees, so we couldn’t get the view properly of some of the Himalayan peak. But it didn’t matter at all as hiking with friends is a real fun. We hired a guide to take us around and explore more, he took us to a great walk through the forest, at times it was getting difficult to catch up with him since he was very fast and belonged to the same area so it was easy for him to walk in the hills.Hiking in Binsar

My first experience of hiking in the forest was splending, but one needs a little fitness to walk through the hilly areas, just take little caution while walking on the narrow path. Binsar was not commercialized unlike other hill stations and really had a great time.  Although, Binsar is a lovely place for hiking but you can come here for relaxation and rejuvenation.

A relaxing trip

On the last day, I indulged myself in a massage session (it was a waste of money). 1 hour kaa bol ke only 30 minutes mile. Now time to go back to Delhi. Overall experience was good. The resort offers lot of things for all age group. It’s a must go place but 2 nights and 3 days are sufficient.  Please carry snacks if you have a particular taste or a health freak just like me because not too many options are available be it biscuits or chips in the surroundings. Limited choices are there.

It was really a break for me. I could relax, enjoy activities, dance around, sleep well, and ate healthy. When I came back home, I felt great and rejuvenated.
