‘Lust Stories 2’ is a follow-up to the anthology movie ‘Lust Stories (2018),’ which contained four short films made by different directors.

The sequel delivers new viewpoints on female pleasure and goes further into the complexity of desire thanks to a new team of directors.

Like the original installment, Lust Stories 2 contains a variety of different kinds of content. Famous actors like Kajol, Tamannah Bhatia, Neena Gupta, Mrunal Thakur, and Vijay Verma play important roles in the superb cast of Lust Stories 2. There are four stories in the anthology collection.

Neena Gupta is transformed by R. Balki into a sexually liberated grandma, but he makes sex a pedantic subject.

R. Balki’s “Made for Each Other,” which explores post-consumption sexual desires and tackles social taboos surrounding conversations about premarital sex, serves as the collection’s introduction. In the opening tale, “Made for Each Other,” Mrunal Thakur and Angad Bedi play two lovers who decide to wed and receive parental approval. The couple should find out if they are sexually compatible before getting married, says Neena Gupta, who plays Mrunal’s grandmother.

Perhaps the only saving grace of Lust stories 2 is Konkona Sen’s short story, which is my personal favourite.

Isheeta (Tillotama Shome), a lone character who laments a lack of closeness in life plays an important role in Konkona Sen “The Mirror.” She leads a typical and dull life until she has a startling encounter when she sees Seema, her domestic helper (Amruta Subhash), having sex on her bed. Isheeta finds herself pulled into the spectacle instead of retaliating indignantly, interrogating her, or dismissing her. She watches them regularly and finds a new kind of pleasure. The storyt dives into Isheeta’s private sphere, illuminating her yearning for closeness and unconventional explorations of pleasure.

The Vijay Varma and Tamannaah Bhatia story was hardly noteworthy.

Sujoy Ghosh is the director of the third tale of the Lust stories 2.

In the this tale, “Sex With Ex,” Vijay Varma plays a CEO who is married and has two children. He unexpectedly bumps across his ex-wife (Tamannaah Bhatia) when his car breaks down one day. Vijay Verma is forced to marry another woman as a result of Tamannaah’s unexpected departure.

Even though this was the narrative that was most heavily promoted, it was also the weakest since the plot was so thin.

Unlikely to qualify as a “lust story” is the one starring Kajol since it is far too dark and intense.

The final chapter of Lust Stories 2 is directed by Amit Sharma. In a serene temple village in central India, Chanda (Kajol) lives a sad, terrible life. Her angry, caste- and aristocracy-obsessed husband (Kumud Mishra), who opposes sending her kid to England for further education, finds the concept disgusting. He begins leering at the new maid who moves into this home, but is Chanda really as subdued and compliant as she seems?

Kajol’s eyes can depict the sky, and despite her greatest effort, the story doesn’t quite make sense, neither emotionally nor logically. In addition, Sharma and narrative author Saurabh Choudhary make a frightening choice in how to wrap up the tale.

Gaining Ground

The most entertaining and unique of the group is The Mirror Tale. The writing of the characterizations is simply astounding. Konkona Sen Sharma did a fantastic job at capturing people’s sexual dreams. The maid’s choice of her mistress’s home for having sex is likewise convincing.

Though incredibly in-depth, the Tilchatta story featuring Kajol cannot be classified as lust. This story contains a few clever twists that are also challenging to predict. When it comes to performances, Neena Gupta and Tillotama Shome stand out from the crowd. Their performances are nothing short of brilliant since they really got into the skin of their characters.

Watch Lust stories 2 to see the Konkona portion. The remaining stories are lost.

Not so convincing part of the Lust stories 2:

The story involving Vijay Verma and Tamannah created the most hype. Despite the fact that they get along really well, the story is not very satisfying. It’s unclear what message the story’s authors wanted readers to take away. The way the mysterious community has been portrayed is peculiar. Those who hope this story to have an engaging plot will be bitterly disappointed.

In spite of the mediocre presentation, the opening story in Lust Stories 2, “Made for Each Other,” does in fact convey a point that is important. It is tedious due to the constant sequence of monotonous circumstances. The lacklustre narration significantly lessens the impact. The final plot develops at a somewhat slow rate.

Verdict:

Overall, Lust Stories 2 fails to live up to the expectations set for it. A few of the stories are interesting, but the other two are absolutely unsatisfying. Although the main cast did a terrific job, the outcome is unimpressive.
