Travel – 13 Important Things to Pack for a Vacation

We all love to travel but sometimes out of excitement we tend to forget certain important things which we regret later. It has happened with me on many occasions so one fine day I took out Google keep notes on my phone and penned down each and everything which is a must while travelling. So here is the list of things which you should carry with you next time you go on a holiday.

1.TRAVEL DOCUMENTS:

Always carry your Flight/Train ticket printout (although people have it in their phone but last minute malfunctioning of phone can create a lot of chaos), Original passport and Visa (if it’s an international travel), if you are taking visa on arrival check the documents required by that country at immigration, Original photo ID , Hotel printout, if it’s a tour package printout of the package with all do’s and don’ts,  carry a passport size photo just in case you need it. You need to carry atleast 2 to 3 copies of above mentioned documents (I generally make sets as per the number of bags I am carrying and put them in my bags)

2. TRAVEL INSURANCE:

Guys it’s really a must. People get confused as they take insurance while booking a flight and consider being a travel insurance of your entire trip. That’s only for flight purpose it won’t help you out if god forbid you get into accident or other unforeseen circumstance. Travel insurance should start from the day you are entering the other country and should end by 5 to 10 days after your arrival date. For an example : If your arrival is on 5thApril and you met with an accident/lose your passport/lose your baggage on 4thApril you will have extra days in hand to compensate the same from your travel insurance.

3. CURRENCY:

Always carry currency along with you depending on the number of days you are travelling for and also considering number of people you are travelling with. Currency at the airport will be costlier than the local shops/banks so always do your homework.

I have seen many people get their currency exchanged in dollars as dollars are universally accepted but this can burn a hole in your pocket because first you will pay extra charges for converting them from INR to $ (if you are travelling from India) and then let’s say you are travelling to Malaysia; again you will pay extra charges for converting $ to Ringgits and later when you are back you will again pay the charges for converting Ringgits/dollars to INR. So it’s always advisable to carry the currency of the country you are travelling to.  Carry some extra currency for emergency purpose.

6. CLOTHES/FOOTWEAR:

Clothes/Footwear should be comfortable and as per the season of the destination. If you feel very cold due to AC (like I do), carry a thin jacket or a shawl with you even if it’s summer as airport/aircrafts/trains/cabs gets cold after a while due to AC. Carry extra undergarments, button and zips should be checked before packing. Keep a walking shoe with you with socks. Avoid heel while travelling as it can give blisters or can cause injury. Carry extra plastic bag for dirty clothes and keep safety pins with you.

Carry a sorbitrate even if no one is a heart patient because you never know. It’s a life saving drug. Carry small quantity of all the above items.
